Local Museum Celebrates Diverse Wentworth Collection with "Back By Popular Demand" Exhibit
The new exhibit, Back by Popular Demand: The Wonderful World of T.T. Wentworth, Jr., revisits the look and character of the original museum's interior. Visitors can expect to see wonderful displays of Wentworth's oddities and antiques that he spent his lifetime collecting. Staff recreated the fun and light-hearted ambiance of the original museum by stacking pieces of the collection from floor to ceiling, using very few modern museum cases, and incorporating the original labels and notes. According to Gale Messerschmidt, Curator of Exhibits: "Many of the displayed items are old local favorites that have not been seen by visitors for some time, such as the huge "dinosaur" bone, Wentworth's collection of hubcaps and license plates, and the test bombs donated by a local junk yard." The T. T. Wentworth, Jr. Florida State Museum is open free to the public, Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
